Tradition
 

- In the spring, visitors can attend carnival events, such as the carnival of Krokees and taste Lenten food on Green Monday in the village of Mystras.

- The May Day festival takes place in the village of Taygeti with folk dances, local food and songs.

- On May 29 there is a traditional festival called “Paleologia”, in honor of Konstantinos Paleologos which was the last Byzantine emperor. During the festival memorial prayer takes place at the church of Agios Dimitrios and there are organized lectures, races and concerts.

- From August 26 to September 2 traditional fair takes place in the village of Mystras. During the fair visitors can buy traditional products, food and clothes from Greek crafts at affordable prices.

As the nerve center of Laconia, Mystras is ideal for daily road trips in Mani (Gytheio, Limeni, Cave of Diros) and Monemvasia.
